2014 Standing Up for Strong Neighborhoods

On Thursday, June 12th, approximately 400 guests joined us for a wonderful evening at Tribeca Rooftop to celebrate Settlement Housing Fund’s 45th Anniversary.  The event also honored NYC developer Artimus for their work to build and preserve affordable housing and strong neighborhoods, and Joan Tally for her commitment to community development through her work at the NYC Housing Development Corporation and now at Morgan Stanley's Global Sustainable Finance group. The Honorable Shaun Donovan, Secretary, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was our special guest speaker.

Many thanks to our Neighborhood Celebration Committee who served as event sponsors, and to all of our supporters.

2013 In The Clouds Celebration

Nearly 300 friends and supporters joined us for a special night at the Chelsea Piers Sunset Terrace to honor visionary leaders and community builders.  Glass brick awards went to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and City Council Member Helen Diane Foster for their instrumental role in helping us create the New Settlement Community Center.  And Carol Lamberg was recognized for her thirty years of work as Settlement Housing Fund's Executive Director, which has included the creation of nearly 9,000 units of quality affordable housing as well as amenities and programs throughout New York City.

Charles S. Warren, Board President and Event Chair

Gary Jacob and Jeffrey E. Levine, Event Vice Chairs

Many thanks to all of our event sponsors, contributors and members of the Cumulus Celebration Committee.

2012 Juggling for Strong and Healthy Communities

We had a ball on June 5th at Landmark on the Park celebrating our collective juggling for community development.  We were proud to honor HPD Commissioner Mathew Wambua and FG-PH Corp., an excellent affordable housing contractor.  The glass brick award was presented to Commissioner Wambua by Special Guest Presenter Robert K. Steel, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development.  Event Chair Chuck Brass presented the award to FG-PH.  We also enjoyed brief remarks by Settlement Housing Fund Board President Charles S. Warren and Executive Director Carol Lamberg, and were thoroughly entertained by jugglers Jen Slaw and Michael Karas.

We thank all our supporters and offer special thanks to our event sponsors and friends committee.

2011 Cole with Soul and a Melody for CPC

Many thanks to all who supported our annual benefit on June 1st at Landmark on the Park in honor of Susan Cole and The Community Preservation Corporation. Susan Cole retired from Settlement Housing Fund in 2010 after 37 tireless years.  In addition to her leadership role as Associate Director, she was the marketing guru, asset manager and overall fountain of wisdom and humor for the Board, staff and colleagues.  Susan's love of soul music, and pride for the musicians at Settlement Housing Fund, inspired the event's theme and entertainment.  Our second honoree, Community Preservation Corporation, has financed the creation and preservation of hundreds of thousands of apartments. Settlement Housing Fund's founder, the late Clara Fox, was an ardent fan of CPC from its earliest days and a mentor to its former President, Michael Lappin. We give special thanks to the Settlement Housing Fund Soul Singers, whose awesome performance brought our event to life, and to our event Co-Chairs Robert Berne and Barbara J. Fife.

2010 Easy to be Green

A great and green time was had by all at Settlement Housing Fund's annual benefit at Landmark on the Park on May 25th.  The event honored three great champions of affordable housing: Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch, past CEO and President of the National Housing Conference, Conrad Egan, and Capital One Bank, represented by Manhattan Market President, James Covington.  Settlement Housing Fund has enjoyed long relationships with its honorees and was pleased to bring them together for this special evening attended by over 300 people from the affordable housing and real estate development communities.

Settlement Housing Fund is pleased to thank everyone who supported the event, which benefits our work to create and sustain affordable housing and community programs throughout the city.

2009 Shovel Ready and Raring to Go

Over 300 people attended Settlement Housing Fund's 20th Annual benefit at Landmark on the Park on June 4th. The event honored Nick Lembo, President of Monadnock Construction, and the Fund for the City of New York.  With hard hats and scaffolding on hand, we celebrated both these two great friends of Settlement Housing Fund and our "shovel ready" project, the New Settlement Community Campus.  Nick Lembo, a leading builder of affordable housing, was our partner on a complex of 37 two-family homes in Brooklyn that we sold, predominantly to families who lived in public housing.  And the Fund for the City of New York gave us our first grant to start our organization in 1969 and has been there for us since with its cash-flow loan program, which helps nonprofit groups manage their short-term needs while waiting for government reimbursements.  Mary McCormick, the Fund's President, and Andrew Walrond, Loan Officer, accepted the award. We are grateful to our honorees, our Committee, and the many friends and colleagues who supported the event.
