Housing Stability

Our housing stability work is centered on making quality affordable housing a reality for low-income households and families experiencing homelessness. We work to ensure that our residents who are housing insecure or transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing have access to the tools and resources needed to remain stably housed in our own buildings and those of other affordable housing providers. Our advocacy work underscores our commitment to addressing the affordable housing crisis and reducing family homelessness in New York City.

Resident Engagement

Our Resident Engagement Services program works to meet the housing stability needs of households who have experienced homelessness and now reside at our Semiperm Residence, and at former “cluster site” apartments where they are now leaseholders. Settlement Housing Fund has been chosen by the City to manage, acquire and rehabilitate eight of these properties in the Bronx, returning temporary units to permanent housing and reducing family homelessness. Several of these properties are located within our New Settlement community, where residents have access to all of the resources our affiliate provides to youth and families.

Our Advocacy Work

Settlement Housing Fund advocates for improving policy to address the affordable housing crisis and family homelessness in New York City. The lived experience of the Housing Policy Fellows we work with each year from the Family Homelessness Coalition helps inform and direct actionable plans and policies to reduce family homelessness.

Asset Management

Our Asset Management team is responsible for safeguarding the long-term stewardship of our housing developments. The team evaluates the performance of our portfolio to protect the quality of our housing and ensure that our buildings remain stable and sustainable for our residents.
