New Settlement

New Settlement, our affiliated nonprofit organization in the Mount Eden neighborhood of the Bronx, aims to break systemic barriers, advance justice, promote leadership and strengthen neighborhoods in the Bronx. The organization manages a host of youth programs including several After School Programs and a Summer Day Camp for students from surrounding public schools; community change and leadership for middle school students; education, leadership and job support for teens and young adults, including the College Access Center, Young Adult Opportunity Initiative, YouthBuild, Program for Girls and Young Women, and Young Men Establishing the Narrative. Health and Wellness programs include a community food pantry, a teen-run farm stand, and gardening and cooking; as well as organizing and advocacy work to promote fair housing and quality education in Bronx communities.

New Settlement Community Campus

Settlement Housing Fund and New Settlement worked with the School Construction Authority to construct the New Settlement Community Campus, a light-filled, state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2012 to house public schools for kindergarten through 12th grade, special education classrooms for students with autism, a health clinic, playground, gymnasium, auditorium and amphitheater. Attached is the New Settlement Community Center providing swim instruction, fitness, dance, martial arts, STEM and other arts, recreation and wellness activities for children, teens, families and seniors. New Settlement is the lead community partner with the NYC Department of Education in operating the schools for more than 1,200 students and runs the Community Center, which celebrates its return post-COVID with more than 5,000 members.
