St. John’s Place Family Center
1604, 1620, 1630 St. John’s Place
Settlement Housing Fund developed the St. John’s Place Family Center in 1990 as an alternative to welfare hotels. For over 30 years, the Family Center has provided apartment style shelter for families experiencing homelessness, as well as social services, such as day care and help securing permanent housing. The three buildings that make up St. John’s Place Family Center will be fully renovated beginning in 2022. Going forward the Center will be managed by Urban Resource Institute NYC, a leader in shelter provision.
