Our 2024 Reaching New Heights Gala

Settlement Housing Fund is deeply grateful to all of our sponsors and contributors who generously supported our 2024 Reaching New Heights Gala. More than 300 friends and colleagues from the affordable housing community came together to celebrate a great lineup of honorees and to raise a record $625,000, which will strengthen our work to create and preserve high-quality affordable housing for low-income households throughout New York City, including families previously experiencing homelessness.

We are pleased to share photos and our video from the event below, which celebrated the rehabilitation of the historic Harlem River Houses and Harlem River II, including the ongoing renovation of 693 apartments, upgrades to eight buildings, and the revival of expansive grounds with playgrounds and public art for thousands of NYCHA residents. We also celebrated the construction of new housing in the historic Weeksville section of Crown Heights for low-income seniors and families, including households leaving shelters. With our Co-Chairs, Rachel Grossman of JPMorgan Chase and John Valladares of Slate Property Group, and presenters Carol Lamberg, Joan Tally, Michael Gaboury, Judy Herbstman, Alexa Sewell, and Chuck Warren, we honored our former Board Member Mathew Wambua & Merchants Capital, Steven Dubb & Beechwood Homes, Ruth Moreira & the New York City Housing Development Corporation, Ingrid Gould Ellen, our former board member, NYU Wagner Professor and Director of the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy, and our previous President, Alexa Sewell.

We also paid tribute to Lee Warshavsky, our beloved, longtime General Counsel who passed away earlier this year. In his memory, we have established the Lee Warshavsky Legal Internship Fund to support our legal internship program for law students to gain experience in the affordable housing field working with our General Counsel Jackie Tom and her team at Settlement Housing Fund. Please click the link here to read more about Lee and the Fund and to make a donation, click the link here.
